First guests arrive along with tonnes of SNOW!!!

When I woke up this morning it was earily quiet. Pulled back the curtains to be faced with sooo much snow!! So exciting.

After clearing a mountain's worth of snow off the drives, we got our guests up the mountain and then managed to grab a couple of hours ourselves.

This photo is of Lorna at the top of the Charniaz chair on the edge of the Ranfoilly bowl (Pleney/Les Gets side). We had great fun in the powder and our legs felt they had had good use!!

Back in the chalet now for warmed minced pies and vin chaud....I love Christmas.

Lots more snow due this week so will try to get some great pics and of course more of Christmas Day.

Back to the preparation of tonight's dinner (confit of duck with dauphinois potatoes - perfect after a day's hard work on the mountain I reckon!).

Bye for now.

Milly and the rest of the team ;-)

Winter Starts Here!

Well the winter pre season is well and trully under way. All our amazing Sugar Mountain staff are in resort and doing a sterling job of getting everything ready for you. We can't wait for you all to meet them and to get the season started proper.

We've had our first proper dump of snow in resort and more due tonight. So plenty of snow clearing to get us ski and board fit.

The lifts opened this weekend for a taster of what is to come for the next 5 months and plenty of people took to the slopes.

This weekend it all opens up fully, so us and the staff can't wait to get up there.

Watch this space for what is new on and off the piste!!!!!

Summer in the Sun

Guests this summer have had a wicked time and it is just getting better and better! We had a full house for the Pass Portes du Soleil weekend at the end of June and 3500 riders competed in the festival. This year Morzine town hosted the event with all the major mtb manufacturers setting up in the centre of town, superb conditions kept everyone tired but happy.

Then more bikes of the Harley variety rolled into Morzine and took over the town for a three day festival organised by the Harley Owners Group. A few thousand pristine bikes were on display with commercial stands in the main tourist square, bike shows and live bands playing on the huge stage. It was amazing to see Morzine so transformed and rocking! The music may not have been to mine and Lorna's usual taste, but went down well with the main crowd. The last night co-incided with the eve of Bastille Day and a huge firework display preeceded the headline act on the main stage.

We are looking forward to this years Feu du Lac event at Lake Montriond on Saturday 8th August. We'll head down early with the bbq and picnic and hang out, listen to the bands and wait for the fireworks over the lake. It is a stunning setting for a great day and night out.
